World Yoyo Contest at Harpa

The group will have Harpa Snapchat next week

On the 10th – 12th of August, the World Yoyo Championships will be held in at Harpa.

Over those three days there are five diverse types of categories. One is a competition in artistic performance, 40+ age championships and the use of two Yoyo ‘s at the same time. The first two days are group stages and the finals will be on Saturday.

On the ground floor in Harpa, there will be a special teaching and training area for all those who want to visit and try using Yoyo during the tournament. Those who teach are all contestants who are among the best in the world.

About 200 competitors from 30 countries are coming to Iceland, but more than 500 foreign visitors are expected to Harpa during the tournament. Páll Valdimar Kolka Guðmundsson will compete on behalf of Iceland, but he has previously competed in the World Championship and has won silver twice in the European Championship, won the Open British Championships and a big tournament in Japan. His world tour is sponsored by a Yoyo company where he has now designed his own signature Yoyo called Puffin.

There are two Icelandic boys in charge of the organization of the tournament in collaboration with the International Yoga Association and Ben Mcphee, owner of YoyoFactory. The sponsors of the tournament are YoYoFactory, Ölgerðin and Nexus.
