There are few weeks a year that have a special meaning at Harpa and often have a special name. Tonight, we finish one of those weeks when Björk closes the Iceland Airwaves week 2016. Harpa is the home of Iceland Airwaves Music Festival and has taken a big part of the festival in recent years.
Over 50.000 guests visited Harpa during the festival time. All the main halls ware in use and that includes Eldborg, Silfurberg, Norðurljós and Kaldalón. The headquarters of Airwaves moved to Harpa, for example offices, the box office, ticket delivery, merchandise store and many more. All the separate tickets that were needed for additional shows in Eldborg and Vodafonehöllin during the festival were also handed out at Harpa.
The highlight of the festival this year was without a doubt Björk. Two concerts in Eldborg main hall, one on Saturday and the second one tonight. It’s not surprising that both shows ware/are sold-out. Addition to all the great music scene during the festival, Björk also opened her amazing exhibition Björk Digital. This outstanding Virtual Reality (VR) exhibition, that has also has been opened in Tokyo, Sydney and London, will be at Harpa until the end of this year. You can get more information here.
Harpa would like to thank the Iceland Airwaves staff for good cooperation and we can’t wait to do it all over again in 2017.
