Svanhildur Konráðsdóttir, Director of Culture and Tourism Department of the City of Reykjavík, has been appointed the new Director of Harpa.
Svanhildur Konráðsdóttir has over twenty years of successful experience in management work in the field of culture, art and tourism. In recent years, she has served as Director of Culture and Tourism Department of the City of Reykjavík, which is responsible for all the city’s cultural, artistic and tourist activities, including the operation of the city’s cultural institutions and Visit Reykjavik, a marketing office for the greater Reykjavík area, working closely with all the surrounding municipalities in promoting the area as a destination.
On Svanhildur´s initiative, the official convention bureau for Reykjavík; Meet in Reykjavík was established in January 2012 for the purpose of creating a core organisation for the long-term advancement into the MICE market
Since 2004, Svanhildur has been linked to the Concert Hall and Conference Centre as a representative of the City of Reykjavík on the board of the company that oversaw the construction and preparation of Harpa’s operations. Svanhildur was a board member of Harpa from it´s opening until January 2017.
