Harpa Guided Tours

Behind the Scenes

Experience the magnificent Harpa and visit areas that are not open to general public. The guide will share with you some of Harpa’s secrets, stories of odd incidents and the struggles during the economic crisis, as well as the dynamic atmosphere backstage during performances. You will learn how Icelandic nature, volcanoes and the Arctic light inspired the unique architecture and the amazing glass facade of the house – and be able to photograph it from new intriguing angles. This will be a stimulating journey exploring the less visible brilliance of this rewarded architectural masterpiece. The guided tour is in English and takes 45 minutes, the price is 2.200 per person. Please get tickets at the box office desk on first floor.

Summer 15 May – 15 September:
Daily: 11:00, 13:30, 15:30 and 17:30

Winter 15 September –  15 May:
Weekdays: 15:30. Weekends: 11:00 and 15:30

April 14 -17 we will have daily tours at 11:00 and 15:30
There are no guided tours May 3rd and May 5th. 

Disabled access
The Harpa guided tour is fully accessible for wheelchair users and customers with mobility issues. In addition, if requested in advance, we are able to provide a wheelchair service for any customers who wish to use it.

Disclaimer: It can happen that some of our halls are off limits, in which case your guide will notify you.

Special group guided tours 
Groups can book a private guided tour. The tour can be customized for special interests, for requested time frame or language with a choice between Icelandic, English, Italian, German, Danish, French or Finnish. Optimal guided tour to Group bookings — book through tours@harpa.is or via telephone +354 528 5009 / +354 528 5000. Minimum price for group is 20.000 ISK.

For the technical enthusiasts who want to learn about all the details – the acoustical adjustment possibilities, the various technical equipment and solutions, the complexed engineering behind the glass facade and the challenge presented by the building of Harpa. Learn about the history of the building, the competition held regarding its design and the building process.
