The members of HÓBiT have played together in the realms of music in all sorts of combination for many years and enjoy doing so. Last September they recorded an album that got the name Japl (released 16th of January) and contains music by Heiðarsson. The music is improvisational music framed by melodies which every person could enjoy. Private investigators like sneaking under some parts, babies prefer sleeping for others but the quartet takes delight in playing them all.
Helgi Rúnar Heiðarsson, saxophones
Tómas Jónsson, piano and farfisa
Birgir Steinn Theodórsson, bass
Óskar Kjartansson, drums
Múlinn’s program is ambitious, diverse and a good example of the liveliness that characterizes the Icelandic jazz scene. Visitors can listen to top quality jazz at a reasonable price with a great view over the harbor. Múlinn is a cooperation between Félags Íslenskra Hljómlistarmanna (FÍH) and Jazzvakningar. The club is named after Jón Múli Árnason who was also an honorary member and patron of Múlinn. Múlinn was founded in the fall 1997 but the first concert took place in the beginning of 1998. Múlinn is funded by The City of Reykjavík and The Iceland Music Fund and is in collaboration with The World Music Club and Harpa.
