Múlinn Jazz Club – Byzantine Silhouette

Jazz with a view

This event has passed

Byzantine Silhouette is well known for their fiery take on music from the Balkans. The group celebrates a 10th anniversary this year. They have released two critically acclaimed CD’s and a live concert DVD. Members of the band are excited about finally getting a chance to play a live show after having had to postpone concerts and tours because of the COVID epidemic. The program will include new material in conjunction with material from the extensive program of the quartet from Greece, Bulgaria, Macedonia and Turkey.

Haukur Gröndal, clarinet, saxophone
Ásgeir Ásgeirsson, bouzouki, tamboura
Þorgrímur Jónsson, bass
Erik Qvick, percussion

Múlinn’s program is ambitious, diverse and a good example of the liveliness that characterizes the Icelandic jazz scene. Visitors can listen to top quality jazz at a reasonable price with a great view over the harbor. Múlinn is a cooperation between Félags Íslenskra Hljómlistarmanna (FÍH) and Jazzvakningar. The club is named after Jón Múli Árnason who was also an honorary member and patron of Múlinn. Múlinn was founded in the fall 1997 but the first concert took place in the beginning of 1998. Múlinn is funded by The City of Reykjavík and The Iceland Music Fund and is in collaboration with The World Music Club and Harpa.

Tickets are 3.000 ISK / 2000 ISK for seniors and disabled and 1.500 ISK for students.

Organizers of Múlinn are Ólafur Jónsson and Haukur Gröndal.
