Soprano Álfheiður Erla along with violinist Pétur Björnsson, cellist Steiney Sigurdardottir and harpsichord player Halldór Bjarki Arnarson performs enchanting music from the Baroque period.
The young Icelandic soprano Álfheiður Erla is studying towards her master’s degree at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin; after completing her bachelor studies with highest distinction from the same school in 2018.
She was invited to participate in SongStudio, a new program for young vocalists under the leadership of world-renowned soprano Renée Fleming in January 2019 at Carnegie Hall. SongStudio was designed to renew and refresh the presentation and experience of the vocal recital while exploring innovative approaches to both classic and current song repertoire.
Álfheiður made her debut at Staatsoper Berlin in the title role of Wolfgang Mitterer’s ‘Snow White‘ in March 2019, followed with her ‘Papagena‘ debut in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte September 2019. Álfheiður also performed the ‘Echo‘ in Scarlatti’s La Vergine Addolorata with Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin during Staatsoper Berlin’s Barocktage in November 2019.
Álfheiður is also a passionate recitalist and performs frequently in recitals in Germany and Iceland. Her extensive repertoire includes international and diverse compositions with particular emphasis on Nordic and German Lieder from the romantic era.
