Rise Against is an American melodic hardcore band from Chicago, formed in 1999. They are known for an amazing stage performance and their endless energy on stage. Icelandic rock fans will finally get to see them play in Harpa on October 23rd!
Band members are vocalist/rhythm guitarist Tim Mcllrath, lead guitarist Zach Blair, bassist Joe Principe and drummer Brandom Barnes. The band‘s first two albums The Unraveling (2001) and Revolutions per Minute (2003) met considerable underground success, but their third album, Siren Song of the Counter, which came out in 2004 brought the band international attention with singles like „Swing Life Away“ and „Give It All“.
Their next albums, The Sufferer & the Witness (2006) and Appeal to Reason (2008), were also successful and peaked at number ten and number three on the Billboard 200 chart. On these albums are some of their most popular songs like „Savior“, „Hero of War“ and „Prayer of the Refugee“. In 2011 they released the album Endgame, and their newest album, The Black Market, came out in 2014 and received critical acclaim, including a 100% in Kerrang! magazine.
Rise Against’s members are human and animal rights advocates and are known for supporting organisations such as Amnesty International and the „It Gets Better Project“.
