Gretel Ehrlich is the author of 15 books, including the award-winning, Solace Of Open Spaces, This Cold Heaven, Seven Seasons In Greenland, and most recently, Facing The Wave, winner of the PEN USA Nonfiction Award. Ehrlich’s work has been published in many magazines, including, Harpers, The Atlantic, Orion, The New York Times Magazine, Time, Life, Outside, and The National Geographic.

NonfictioNOW is a biennial gathering of nonfiction writers, teachers, readers and students, highlighting the myriad forms of nonfiction. Founded in the US in 2005, this is the first time that the conference takes place in Europe.
