Syntagma is a well known square in Athens and the rembetiko style was formed when Turkish refugees arrived in the city around 1920. Most well known composer of the rembetiko tradition is Mikes Theodorakis who wrote the famous piece Zorba. The music performed by Syntagma Rembetiko is what you might hear when walking into a Greek café, here with the midnight sun.
