Þessi viðburður er liðinn
The exhibition is open daily at 12-18.
The exhibition mirrors the past and the future, by displaying both old and new proposals for a new Icelandic flag.
Some of the original proposals, made early in the 20th century, are shown. One from renowned Icelandic painter Jóhannes Kjarval and another by Christian X, king of Denmark, now shown publicly for the first time in Iceland.
As an answer to the old proposals, two artists, Elín Hansdóttir and Arnar Ómarsson, and two designers, Kristín Þorkelsdóttir and Jakob Sturla Einarsson, have designed new proposals for the national flag.
Curator: Hörður Lárusson
The exhibition is being held as part of the celebration of the Centenary of Icelandic independence and sovereignty, and in cooperation with the Prime Minister’s Office and the Iceland Design Centre.
